This page contains a little information about me. From here, you can send e-mail or visit some of my other personal home pages. My official bio doesn't list some of the c.v. stuff that I'll want to include someday. I'll keep some of that stuff here for the time being (this is a work in progress, so don't expect greatness).
Student
Distance Learning InstructorI've been an Adjunct Professor and Distance Learning Instructor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). The most recent semester for which I had teaching duties was fall 2002. I'm going to take time off to finish my dissertation.
Naval OfficerThis is my official biography.... Captain Jeffery W. Wilson, United States Navy Captain Jeffery W. Wilson is currently the Technical Director for the Joint Single Integrated Air Picture (SIAP) System Engineering Organization (JSSEO). Working with the Services, Defense Agencies, and U. S. Allies, CAPT Wilson leads the system engineering efforts necessary to develop recommendations for systems and system components that collectively provide the warfighter with the ability to build and maintain a Single Integrated Air Picture. CAPT Wilson graduated from Oregon State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy through the Regular Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps. Following graduation, CAPT Wilson served briefly in USS THOMAS C HART (FF 1092), then attended Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS) (Basic) and Main Propulsion Assistant School, Newport, R.I. After completion of these schools, he was assigned as Boilers Officer in USS ROARK (FF 1053). He later served as Main Propulsion Assistant and Navigator in USS ROARK; he detached from USS ROARK in February, 1982. In 1984, CAPT Wilson graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Science degree (with distinction) in Physics. He then served his Engineering Duty Officer qualifying tour at the Naval Plant Representative Office in Pomona, California where he was the Program Manager's Representative for the Phalanx MK 15 Close-in Weapon System, and later for STANDARD Missile. In 1988, CAPT Wilson transferred to the Naval Ship Weapon System Engineering Station (NSWSES) in Port Hueneme, California where he served as a Project Officer in the AEGIS Department. During this tour, he served as the Project Officer and Developmental Test Director for the AN/SPY-1B Radar System and for the AEGIS Weapon System Baseline 3 installed in USS PRINCETON (CG 59), the Combat System Ship Qualification Trial (CSSQT) Project Officer for USS MONTEREY (CG 61), and the Project Officer for USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51). In 1990, CAPT Wilson was transferred to the AEGIS Shipbuilding Program (PMS 400) in Arlington, Virginia where he served as the Combat System and Test Officer for ARLEIGH BURKE Class Guided Missile Destroyers. In 1992, he moved to the Technical Division of the AEGIS Program Office (PMS 400B), where he served as the Air Defense Systems Engineering Officer. CAPT Wilson transferred to the Program Executive Office for Theater Air Defense (PEO TAD) in 1995, where he was instrumental in creating the organization within the PEO responsible for system engineering. In addition to these responsibilities, CAPT Wilson formed and led the Joint Integrated Air Defense System Interoperability Working Group, a JCS-sponsored group chartered with characterizing and resolving long-standing joint warfighting capability shortfalls. Captain Wilson was transferred to the Naval Sea Systems Command in August, 1998, where he served as the Director, Warfare Systems Engineering. This assignment ended when the Joint Requirements Oversight Council recommended the establishment of the Single Integrated Air Picture (SIAP) System Engineering Task Force in March, 2000. He is presently assigned as the Technical Director of the Joint SIAP System Engineering Organization, located in Arlington, Virginia. His decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards); Navy Expeditionary Medal; National Defense Service Medal (2 awards); Humanitarian Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2 awards). Captain Wilson earned a B.S. (Computer Science) from Oregon State University (1978), M.S. (Physics) from the Naval Postgraduate School (1985), and M.S. (Computer Science and Application) from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) (2002). Captain Wilson is a Ph.D. Candidate at Virginia Tech, and is a member of IEEE, ACM, Sigma Xi, and the U. S. Naval Institute. Captain Wilson is married to the former Ms. Lorraine M.
